This explains what Unsolved.lol collects, why, and what you can do about it. MURFIN LTD (trading as Unsolved.lol) is responsible for your data (the "controller"). Contact: joe@unsolved.lol.
What we collect
- Name and email when you post a problem, submit a solution, follow a problem or get a referral link.
- What you post: problems, solutions, and any images, audio, videos or links you attach. Photos are resized in your browser before upload, which also removes hidden location data.
- Payment details when you add money: Stripe collects your card details and shares with us your email, the amount and a payment reference. We never see your full card number. Winners give their bank details to Stripe, not to us.
- Simple usage signals: a random cookie so we know you already clicked "I want this solved" or upvoted, a scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address to stop spam, and a referral code if you arrived from someone's link (kept for 30 days).
Why we use it
- To run the site: show problems and solutions, record backing and money, pick and pay winners, and send refunds. (Legal basis: to provide the service you asked for.)
- To send emails you'd expect: your manage link, confirmations, wins, payments, refunds, and updates on problems you follow. You can switch off updates any time from the link in each email.
- To send problems you might be able to solve, or a weekly roundup, only if you tick the box to opt in.
- To keep the site safe: spam protection, fraud checks and moderation. (Legal basis: our legitimate interest in a safe service.)
Who we share it with
We don't sell your data. We use a few trusted services to run the site:
- Hosting and database (Vercel, Supabase), and file storage for uploads (Supabase).
- Email sending (Resend).
- Visitor statistics (Umami and Orb). Both are cookieless and count pages and visits without identifying you.
- Meta, when you add money: we send Meta the amount, a scrambled (hashed) copy of your email and your country, so we can see which of our ads lead to real backing. This goes from our server; there's no Meta pixel or cookie on the site. (Legal basis: our legitimate interest in measuring our advertising. To object, email us and we'll stop.)
- AI to help word and safety-check problems (Anthropic and Groq). We send the text of problems, not your email.
- Spam protection (Cloudflare Turnstile).
- Payments and payouts (Stripe). Stripe processes card payments and refunds, and collects winners' identity and bank details for payouts, under its own privacy policy.
Some of these services are outside the UK and EU; where they are, we rely on their standard data protection safeguards.
What's public
- Problems, and your first name (or username) as the poster.
- Solutions once a problem's answers are public or a winner is chosen, with your first name or username.
- Your email is never shown publicly.
How long we keep it
We keep problems and solutions while the site runs, because solved problems stay up as a public record. We keep your email for as long as you use the site. Ask us and we'll delete your personal data, except where we must keep records (for example, of payments) or where it's on a public blockchain, which nobody can delete.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, export or delete your data, or object to how we use it, by emailing joe@unsolved.lol. If you're unhappy with our answer you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) or your local data protection authority.
