Show every genuinely free way to file US taxes now that Direct File is gone

IRS Direct File did not run in 2026, and people have been left to sort through IRS Free File partners, VITA sites and state free-file programs on their own. Lawmakers point to Free File’s history of steering eligible people into paid products. A simple “answer 4 questions, see your free options” tool would save a lot of people money and stress.
