Create a free website that shows whether an image has appeared online before

Old photos get recycled as breaking news and images get passed off with the wrong credit. People need a simple way to check where and when a picture first showed up.

A solution must include

  1. Publicly accessible at a URL, free to use
  2. Users can upload an image or paste an image URL
  3. Shows earlier appearances of the same or a near-identical image, with links and dates where available
  4. Highlights the earliest appearance it found
  5. Explains its limits in plain language (it can’t prove an image is new)
