USA.gov says it outright: there is no single place to look for all unclaimed money. States returned over $4.49 billion in FY2024, but federal money is spread across separate tools for savings bonds, pensions, FHA refunds, IRS refunds, bank failures, bankruptcy courts and more. Build the one free checklist that walks someone through all of them in one sitting.

A solution must include

  1. Covers every federal source listed on usa.gov/unclaimed-money plus state unclaimed property (MissingMoney.com, Hawaii separately)
  2. Each entry: what the money is, who should check, the official search link, what ID you need
  3. Links only to official .gov or NAUPA sites, never paid finder services
  4. Printable or saveable checklist with progress
  5. Last-verified date on every link
