Most web apps cost far more to run than they need to. Build something genuinely useful whose entire monthly running cost is under a dollar. What it does is up to you: the constraint is the puzzle.

A solution must include

  1. Publicly accessible at a URL, free to use
  2. Does something genuinely useful for real people, explained in one sentence
  3. Total running cost under $1 a month at its current usage, including hosting, database and domain (domain cost spread monthly)
  4. Itemised breakdown of every running cost
  5. Source code is public, or the solver explains clearly how it works
